Question Six

Hello everyone,

Last week in class we concentrated on story telling. We also told chain stories in class to focus on past tense verbs as our target language. This week, I'm going replace my usual question with the start of a story. If you would like to, you can continue the story in the comments. This could be a great tool for you to use with your students.

When I arrived in Rome, it was raining. The sky was dark and grey as I checked into my hotel and even darker as I left it. It was not a good night for a walk but I had no choice. I was meeting someone.

Your turn! Read each comment on the comments page and then continue the story from the last comment.

It was raining and dark, so I got lost. I was at a loss. To make matters worse, i left my cell phone in the hotel, so I couldn't contact the business partner i would be supposed to meet. I walked around the same place several times, and finally got extremely worn-out. When I was about to grab a taxi, he got off the cab. What a miracle! We hug each other and hopped into the nice cafe.

We tried to look for a nice cafe, but we couldn't. So we had to enter the nearest pub. As soon as we sat down a chair, a drunken man came near us.

He started shouting, "Oh, my God. Where were you, my darling? I have been waiting for you for all those years.." He might have mistaken me for his lover. He was even crying.

He kept go shouting and crying. Because he was crying drunk, I couldn't do anything. I hoped that my business partner didn't misunderstand me. About 30 minutes went by, the drunken guy suddenly stood up, and hit my partner. Oh, my goodness!!

I didn't think he would like rainy and gloomy days, either. Anyway I don't want to waste my time on canceling and arranging an appiontment. I went out and called a taxi. But taxi driver looked horrible. I was so afraid. I could even feel that he smiled at me at times. Just before I ask him for me to get out, he asked in a calm voice, "Are you Japanese?" "No, I'm Korean." Then he said to me in Korean. " Oh, I visited Korea last summer. It was wonderful. Here's your destination. Enjoy your stay in Rome.."

When I got out of the taxi, I found myself in front of a strange hotel. The light "Fine" awkwardly blinked above the hotel. I just stood still there absent-mindedly just like an electric-shocked. I tried to search my memory to find my hotel's name. But I couldn't come up with anything. "Damn it!! Because of him, the tweeked wacky screwed things up
