Question Five

One of the great features of blogging is that it can be writing, audio or video in format. If it is a regular audio blog, it's called a podcast.

Take a look at a couple of these podcast sites to see how podcasts can be used for entertainment or education.

DonGenova (A podcast about food)
Classic Poetry Aloud (A podcast of classic poetry)
The Technology Teacher (A podcast about teaching with technology)
Yoga (A podcast about yoga)
Seoul Podcast (A podcast about Seoul, Korea)
Food Wishes (Vlog of cooking)
ESLpod (An ESL Podcast)
Mrs Gamache's Kinderplayer Podcast (A podcast with kindergarten
students)
Jenny's school blog (A high school student's educational podcast)
LIS 460 School Podcast (A teacher produced podcast for her class)
WaySmarter (A podcast about culture and history for students)

My question this week is: How could you use blogs or podcasts for your students?

Hello, Nicole.
Your voice sounds nice. In fact I have no assurance that students finished reading assignments at home. But this audio blog can make students read a certain amount of reading material for sure. The activity gives students pleasure that they are able to deal with technology without difficulty. Thank you for your tips.

Hello, Nicole,
I didn't use any blog or podcast in my class because I can't do it skillfully. I just thought it could distract studying in class because I should manipulate it. But writing a blog or podcastting(?) is a good idea. Many studnets are experts about it and they enjoy chatting on the computer. They can benefit from it.

Hi, Nicole
Thank you for your helpful questions. I have never used blog & padcast in my class. Once I took a look around my co-teacher's blog. He put up new secret words on it every week and checked them in his next class. I think teacher's blog is a space station to connect teacher with his/her students' heart. Students study many subjects. They can't remember teachers' lessons and informations correctly. So blog help students bring back their memory and mitigate the burden of next class. Teachers can put up variety of interesting teaching materials in their podcast. I'm sure students can be motivated and have interest in English.
